MARYROSE TRIVIA

Did you know that Maryrose...

…is a ballroom dancer. She has competed at the silver level in American and International styles for the rhythm and smooth dances, and used to perform at venues in the Twin Cities. Her passion is Latin dancing though she has roots in the art of ballet-dancing, which she studied as a young adult. She also dances tap, jazz and hiphop.

…was a practitioner of TaeKwonDo and KungFu and competed regionally until her fateful accident in the fall of 2003, when she irreparably fractured her right foot from a fall off her roof.

…is a pilot. She flew Cessna 152s and 172s out of Crystal airport in Minneapolis to little towns outside of Minneapolis for fun, on a regular basis, back in the early 2000’s.

…is an avid traveler. She has visited 50 countries in 4 continents and has a goal to make the Century club (i.e., visit 100 countries) by the time she turned 50. (She has since deferred this goal to age 100.)

…is an adventure racer. She took on an event that included hiking, rock climbing, rapelling, highlining on a Tyrolean traverse, kayaking and biking a 40-mile course in Matukituki Valley in the Wanaka region of Queenstown, New Zealand in 2008. The idea of taking on a challenge like this did not occur to her until Eco Seagate.

…is a powerlifter. She started powerlifting as her new endeavor after settling down in Arizona. As of 4/22/2017, she holds the AZ state record for squats and deadlifts in her class. She is now working on her next goal of taking the national record.

Maryrose has two daughters, the eldest, a practicing dentist in Minneapolis, MN. The younger just completed a double Master’s program (Business Administration and Marketing) at the University of Cincinnati.
